Agallah - F.A.M.E. In 1994 rapper/producer Agallah The Don Bishop, formerly known as 8-Off The Assassin, signed to Elektra subsidiary EastWest Records and released the 'hood anthem' "Ghetto Girl." Once that track hit, Agallah became a sought after producer, making beats for Guru (of Gang Starr), EPMD, Big Pun, Lloyd Banks, Onyx, The Diplomats and Busta Rhymes, just to name a few. With an unmistakably raspy and grimy voice, Agallah remained a vicious MC on the microphone. In the early 2000s, he found his identity establishing the Dipset-affiliated Purple City crew with the business-minded Shiest Bubz, and developed into a regular staple on the New York City circuit. With Agallah as their main producer, the group gained a following in New York's mixtape underground almost rivaling that of their Dipset associates. Purple City signed with Babygrande Records in 2004, and their first record called "Roads 2 Riches" sold 50,000 copies. In August 2006, Agallah released his "You Already Know" album, containing a roster of distinguished guest rappers and producers, including Kool G Rap, Dead Prez, Prodigy, Nappy Roots, the Alchemist and DJ Premier. His new project entitled "F.A.M.E." showcases Agallah's production and writing at its best soaring synths, insistent drums and that 'Piffed' out soul mixed with the grimy raspy voiced hardcore street lyricism. The album touches the base of New York Hip Hop. It's hosted by the Mixtape King DJ Big Mike and feautures Sean Price, Shiest Bubz and Caviar Dreams, among others.
